What can we say? Chris de Burgh's first album. The amazing thing is that "Spanish Train and Other Stories" followed almost immediately after this. When I first heard this album, I had already bought six or seven of his later albums and I had to laugh. There are some gems in here such as "Satin Green Shutters" and "Windy Night" for the most part, but overall the album is rather hilarious.
In "New Moon", the poor lad is very distraught because "Just when I'm starting to burn with desire, my blood's getting hot and the flame's rising higher, she says Goodnight... and leaves me on fire...". "Watching the World" begins with the grand line of "Pass me the bottle, pass me the wine, open your throttle, and I'll drive you right out of your mind."
"Turning Round", also released as "Flying", was a smash hit in Brazil. The album ends sweetly enough with the song "Goodnight" which happens to mention every song on the album in it. Being a great fan of CdeB, I actually love this album in an odd way. It has a certain charm to it.
